Here is my very first speed-drawing video!
I drew this for Meg. It is a caricature of her friend’s recently deceased cat, Gamer. This is a gift to her friend.
I screen-recorded this entire drawing. I had to break it up into six half hours. That is three hours (for those who are keeping score at home). I am having trouble figuring out how to speed up the videos so that three hours becomes three minutes. It is kind of boring to watch it at regular speed, I am sorry to say. It looks kinda cool speeded up, though. I may post that in the near future.
Just for funsies, see if you can find my signature.
After I did this last drawing, I realized that I had slipped into NFT art. From what I have gleaned, variation on a theme is the hottest trend. If you need NFT art, contact me at comicartbygonzalez.com
On a daily basis, my CafePress shop, “Bird Smirk Creations”, is about one in a million things available on the internet. And that might be a very generous assessment. What are the odds that somebody is going to come across my site? That’s right…about one in a million. Therefore, I have designed a physical counterpart to the digital Bird Smirk. The Bird Smirk business card.
I am thinking about purchasing 500 business card magnets and plastering them all over town. I hope it is not illegal. My theory is that people will take them and stick them on their refrigerator. On the other hand, if they don’t take them, they will serve as advertising… like a tiny, tiny billboard! Let’s see what happens, shall we?

In a recent article, I mentioned that I was doing some soul-searching, and instead of telling you what I intended to tell you, I veered off into theoretical metaphysics. Here’s the thing…Oddbox Comics is going bi-weekly. Even though making this blog is one of my most favorite things in the world, I need to tend to my financial survival.
Because of the demise of the quick-printing industry, I find myself getting poorer and poorer. I need to look into other avenues of revenue, which means… less time for this blog.
Therefore, I am hereby officially offering my art. Let me help you with a personalized birthday card or notepad. Perhaps a caricature of someone special. How about a personalized Facebook icon? Logo? Event? Whatever! I need money! E-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
You may be asking yourself right now, “Why do I need Bob to make a drawing for me when I can just find what I need on the internet?” Seriously? Do you actually believe that you are going to find a drawing of your sister running a marathon on the planet Mars while carrying a wedding cake? Come on. Get real! Give me a call!
You also need art for…
…T-shirts…posters…mugs…magnets…advertisements…calendars…flyers…portraits…bumper stickers…banners…tattoos…business cards…murals…blogs…websites…invitations…wedding announcements…books…CD covers…envelopes…shot glasses…brochures…menus…whatever…etc.
Please help me make the transition from Printer to Artist. I appreciate whatever you can do to help. Whether you want me to draw something for you, or you just share this article with your friends…it is greatly appreciated!
I finally resolved to get messy with watercolor. This is pencil, black marker, and watercolor on paper. It is a picture of perhaps a cat/fox hybrid. I always initially hesitate to paint in watercolor because of my basic laziness, but once I actually go to the trouble of doing it, I am never disappointed!
