“An eye, sir.”
“An eye?”
“Aye-aye, sir.”
“Aye, aye, aye!” exclaimed the general, as he walked outside the building. Almost filling the entire firmament was the most ridiculous thing he had ever seen. An eye. Gigantic, surreal, and giving him the heebie jeebies! General Maehem was not an especially religious man, but his first thought when he saw the eye was that this was the eye of God.
“This eye is going to cause great social upheaval”, said Maehem. “Major, get Reverend Saintsin on the horn.”
Reverend Saintsin was already out on the front lawn of the church, along with a substantial chunk of his flock, prostrate before the Holy Eye. Five minutes ago, he had walked outside to tend to the community garden and looked into the sky and saw the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. The Holy Eye of God! Gigantic, surreal, and full of light! Reverend Saintsin was a very devout and religious man. “God is finally revealing himself to us”, he thought. His heart started to tingle. “What is happening now, oh Lord?” Again, a tingle to the left of his chest, accompanied by music this time. He finally realized it was his mundane phone. He didn’t want to talk to mere mortals, at the moment. Who could blame him, what with the Eye of God peering down at him? He hung up.
“I must call the President”, Saintsin inexplicably thought.
President Ronald J. Twimp answers the phone, “Twimp here. You don’t say. Maybe we should name it, The Eye of Twimp. What do you think of that? Does that sound good? The Eye of Twimp. I like it. From now on, that is what we call it, okay? What do you think about another meme coin, Reverend? We could make a lot of money. Little Marco, get on that, alright? It should have a picture of the Eye of Twimp on the front and it should say The Eye of Twimp on the back. You know, like in letters. In words, instead of a picture. Not many people know this but did you know that letters make words? Not many people know about that. But I do. I know a lot of words. I know a lot more words than anybody else. I have taken three coganative tests. Aced every single one of them. One of the questions was like, pick a number, any number. Now multiply that by 59, okay? Now subtract two…add two times 47. Add them all together, now split it in half. What’s the answer? I got it right every time. I got it right. They couldn’t believe…they couldn’t believe that I did so good on them. It’s really hard. Not many people could pass it, but I did. I aced it three times. Every time. My uncle is a genius at MIT. I’m smart. I get it from my uncle, I guess. We have very good genes in our family. Not jeans, like pants, but genes like…stuff in the body. I am a very stable genius. Hey. I wonder if the word ‘genes’ comes from the word ‘genius’? I always think about stuff like that because I have a very… a big… a brain.”
The Reverend had hung up five minutes ago.
